| PJM Interconnection Description
The organization is responsible for the operation and control of the bulk electric power system and the administration of electricity markets throughout major portions of five Mid-Atlantic states and the District of Columbia.
The employees of PJM coordinate the operation and planning of the PJM bulk power system on behalf of the Members of PJM. The major responsibilities of PJM are to operate the power grid safely and securely, administer a pool-wide transmission access tariff, and coordinate a regional energy market consistent with achieving maximum overall reliability.
